If you've never been pottery painting before, you might be wondering exactly how it works.
Do you need to be artistic? How much does it cost? What happens after you've painted your pottery? How long does it take?
Don't worry - we've got you covered!
At Happy Glaze Pottery in Tiverton, we welcome complete beginners every day, and pottery painting is much easier (and more relaxing!) than most people expect.

Step 1: Book your table
The easiest way to visit is to book your table online.
This guarantees your space and means we'll have everything ready for your arrival.

Step 2: Choose your pottery
When you arrive, you'll be able to browse our shelves and choose the piece you'd like to paint.
We stock a huge range of pottery, including:
Mugs
Bowls
Plates
Animals and figurines
Vases
Plant pots
Seasonal pottery
Home décor
Children's pieces
Our range changes regularly, so there's always something new to discover.
Most customers spend between £18 and £25 on their chosen piece, although we have options starting from around £10.
The price includes your pottery, paints, glazing and kiln firing, so there are no hidden extras.
Step 3: Start painting!
This is the fun part.
Choose your colours, get creative and paint at your own pace. Whether you have a detailed design in mind or simply want to enjoy the process, our team are always nearby if you'd like tips or inspiration.
You don't need to be artistic to create something you'll love.
Many customers tell us they find pottery painting incredibly relaxing, making it a great activity for families, couples, friends or anyone looking for a creative escape.

Step 4: We glaze and fire your pottery
Once you've finished painting, simply leave your pottery with us.
We'll carefully apply a clear glaze before firing it in our kiln at over 1000°C.
This transforms the paint, bringing the colours to life and creating a glossy finish that's food safe, dishwasher safe and made to last for years.
Many customers are amazed by how much brighter their pottery looks after it's been fired!

Step 5: Collect your finished masterpiece
Once your pottery has been glazed and fired, we'll let you know when it's ready to collect.
Your finished piece will be ready to enjoy, display or give as a personalised gift.
